When War Statistics Puts on a Human Face
According to estimates, by the end of 2022, more than 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers will have died in the course of the Russian invasion, which began on 24 February the same year. Fallen during the first weeks of the war, ten of them are buried in a military cemetery in Lviv in western Ukraine. The military cemetery has a separate plot for soldiers killed in fights since 2014, with dozens of graves lined up side by side. Because of the Russian-Ukrainian war, a new plot had to be opened, where these ten soldiers were buried, and probably many more since.
